Collection: Late to see the truth
This Collection, and the others in the Late for Living series, are based upon an imagined individual who has followed a conventional path in the manner that's largely expected of us all. Perhaps, for most people, this is a fine way of living their lives whilst for some, it leads to certain questions that seem to be left unanswered. These people may still be finding their way, identifying their priorities. Or leaving their lives to the whims of serendipity.
We're all obliged to make decisions about the direction of our lives and to choose our various commitments. Especially when we're young. And some of these decisions can define important aspects of our lives for many years. Choices about education, career, relationships, financial commitments and so on. The lives that we build within society then tend to follow broadly similar paths.
Decisions and insights that define more subtle aspects of ourselves, such as our own personal responses to life's deeper questions about meaning, are less constrained by obligations to convention. Unless you choose to abide by an established religion, you are free to read widely and intuit your own perspective and understanding of the meaning and nature of life and existence.
For perhaps most of us, arriving at an understanding of this type that feels satisfactory happens at the later stages of our lives. And sometimes earlier commitments and decisions that we made that were of a more practical nature may require amending or abandoning as this deeper comprehension emerges. For me personally, the deeper questions have plagued me since my earlier years and it's only now that I'm finding what feels like a mental model of existence that makes some sense. Although it seems there must always be an element of assumption involved.
But whatever our personal truth, it is likely to place value on beauty, kindness, and sheer wonder at the amazing complexity of the reality that we seem to experience, whatever the consciousness is that is doing the experiencing.
